Herpes simplex is a viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), which exists in two forms: HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 typically causes oral herpes, leading to cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth, while HSV-2 is primarily responsible for genital herpes. The virus spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or lesions. Symptoms include painful blisters, itching, and flu-like signs during initial outbreaks. Although the infection can remain dormant for long periods, triggers like stress, illness, or sunlight can reactivate it. There is a cure for herpes simplex by Antiviral drugs & also can manage outbreaks, reduce symptoms, and lower transmission risk. Preventive measures include avoiding contact with infected areas during outbreaks and using protection during sexual activity.
